Hands On Athens

About

Hands On Athens (HOA) is a program of the Athens-Clarke Heritage Foundation, our community's non-profit historic preservation advocacy organization. Established in 1999, HOA organizes volunteer groups and individuals to complete basic home repairs (primarily exterior, but some interior) and landscape improvements for low-income homeowners in Athens' older working class neighborhoods.

HOA receives annual financial support (Community Development Block Grant funding) from Athens-Clarke County, and these funds cover most of the materials and supplies utilized by HOA as well as program administration and some other costs. We welcome donations of any size to enable the program to reach more local homeowners needing assistance.

HOA volunteers generally do not need prior experience. We do, however, especially need people with carpentry and home repair skills who are willing to help direct volunteer work. "House Captain" training opportunities will be available at least twice during 2017.
